How to use play, do and go with different verbs. These verbs are used with sports and activities in different ways.
- Play is used with ball sports or competitive games where we play against another person or a team. For example, we can say:
I play tennis,She plays chess,They play soccer. - Do is used for a recreational activity or a non-team sport that does not use a ball. For example, we can say:
He does yoga,She does karate,They do gymnastics. - Go is used with activities that end in -ing. We go somewhere to do something. For example, we can say:
I go swimming,She goes hiking,They go camping.
